I’ve started the critique and editorial process on Blood to Fire, and am getting more and more excited about sharing the final result with you in a few weeks. In the meantime, you get to make do with yet another snippet: You ask so many questions at once it’s difficult to get a word in … Hump Day Hook: Red Slaves 2 – Blood to Fire #HDH Take 3
I need to remember: Even if your class is small and your assignments seem manageable, midterm week is hell. Somehow I compounded it by taking on an editing job (though I’m very proud of Gayla Drummond’s newest release, Dark Souls) and still trying to keep up with my daily word counts. At least I finished … Stress and Deadlines
Every indie author I know is looking for ways to maximize their exposure and reinforce their legitimacy. This evening, I found a free database tool called AUTHORSdB that does exactly that. Here’s how they describe themselves: Here at AUTHORSdB we’ve formed the only FREE database of authors, including social media, book listings and much more, … Author Listing for Indies
This week was quite productive for me: I did both my schoolwork AND my fiction-writing. I added 4,000 words to my manuscript, and, last night, had that eureka moment that makes you feel all shivery about the final turning point in the storyline. I had really hoped I would have finished by now–there’s a lot … Draft Away, Draft Away, Draft Away, All
I’m plunking along on Blood to Fire, so you get another sneak peek this week: “At some point soon, we’re going to have to take a trip in to Omsk. The Christmas market is a lot of fun, and it’s been forever since we’ve been to the banya together.” I laugh. “You have either a … Hump Day Hook: Red Slaves 2 – Blood to Fire #HDH … Reprise
This week I had a paper due for class again. I had been spoiled by a few weeks of not having to worry about that necessity, so when I started looking into the requirements (only 4-5 pages!) I was lulled into a false sense of security; that would only take an hour or two. Then … Assignment due, fiction delayed
I’m getting so close to the end of book 2 of my Red Slaves series, it’s getting exciting. And since it has me in its claws, will be going to my editor in two weeks, and is coming out in a little more than a month… I thought it was time to start building some … Hump Day Hook: Red Slaves 2 – Blood to Fire #HDH
I know this was meant to be posted SUNDAY, and I really couldn’t tell you why I skipped something that is a standard part of my plan–other than I’m completely anti-routine. When my family lived in East Berlin, the Embassy put on some kind of security training and invited all the family members to attend. … Begin, Again
The next round of ROW80 started with my second semester–yesterday. Since it seems there is something to the adage that accountability leads to (enforces?) productivity, I’m participating again. I learned in the last round that while it’s the rare week that I manage both 5,000 words and school obligations, I do need to keep reminding … Writing Challenge, Challenging Writing
I missed posting yesterday. So sue me. I’ve been sicker this week than I remember ever having been–even Chicken Pox wasn’t this debilitating. And as I’ve struggled to feel better, I’ve watched my dogs watch me, perplexed. Which made me wonder: Whoever came up with expression “sick as a dog”? My girls have been blessed … Sick as a Dog
