I took a break from Red Slaves last week and started something completely different. In the midst of seasonal family revelries, my head was someplace darker, and I started working on a new short story. This is planned to be one of several short stories that form part of a second go at a Katarr … Hump Day Hook: Last Supper #HDH
I’m not counting how many are left, yet, but I did (officially) rock the President’s List with a 4.0 GPA to start my graduate school career. Which still shocks me a little; how is it that I’m better at school now than I ever was before? It wasn’t even a goal I set consciously–though, unconsciously, … One Semester Down
I just turned in my final project for my second class for this semester. It was one of those frustrating academic exercises that loomed over my head all week, and derailed the majority of the attempts I made at working on Blood to Fire. In fact, I spent most of today procrastinating, working on other … Finally Finished – Still Writing
One of my crit pals, Sarah Cass, recently shared this meme by Kerrianne Coombs as another way of promoting our Works in Progress. The idea is to share a paragraph or two of what’s in train (or, what’s already published). Because it’s a blog hop, too, you get the chance to see what a bunch … Hump Day Hook: Blood to Fire #HDH
I just completed the penultimate week’s assignment for my second MBA class. It’s sometimes shocking how quickly this process goes; on the other hand, I also know that my final goal is still three years away. As I mentioned at last week’s check-in, I settled on a tentative publication plan for 2013, based on what … Progress, Change, and Another World
It’s official: NaNoWriMo is over, and I failed. So I’m reminding myself of Ghandi and Rumi and those other enlightened souls who point out that we really are only as good as we allow ourselves to be. The balance I’m looking for is only partially offered by continued success in school, and slightly less self-imposed … You Are the Change You Wish to See
I’ve come out the other side of my second round of mid-term assignments, and the end of my third NaNoWriMo is five days away. Of the two, the first has significantly more profound long-term implications, but I’ve been struggling throughout my holiday week not to fall prey to the droopies because I don’t see much … More Schoolwork Than Sense
A few weeks back, before her Cabin Goddess site got gobbled by some nasty virus, Kriss set me the task of a Flash Fiction piece of no more than 500 words using the prompt “darkness”. She even shared it on her blog; given the crazy that the malware introduced in her life, though, I figured … FridayFlash: Darkness
I’m glad class work this week wasn’t as time-consuming as normal, because between stubbornly stuffy sinuses and betrayal by mattress, my brain has been working at half-power, distracted by poor sleep and pressure enough I thought Tuesday my head my actually implode. I’ve allowed myself the small reprieve of adding a minimum of 100 words … Playing Catch-Up
This week has felt mostly like too much work and too little time, built on way too little sleep. So now I’m fighting a cold again. My body rebels when I push too hard, so I’m glad I’ve had a chance to rest a little this weekend. And I’m done with all the remaining book … Welcome to the Grind
