#AtoZChallenge – O is for Olga

Posted on April 17, 2012October 7, 2012 By tmycann 3 Comments on #AtoZChallenge – O is for Olga

OlgaMy fifteenth A to Z blogging challenge entry introduces Anne’s other sidekick from Dust to Blood. Olga starts as just a research librarian at the Museum of Local Lore in Chernivtsi, and quickly evolves to Anne’s sounding board and confidante.

Olga had her own challenges growing up in the Soviet Union, where beautiful young women were encouraged to join the KGB–and the ones who proved their intelligence were shunted into programs little better than brothels. They were encouraged to use their sexuality to gain access to the secrets of the powerful men who surrounded them.

This gives Olga some immunity to the pervasive chauvinism that consistently frustrates Anne, and helps Olga see beyond the surface actions of her comrades to provide well-considered advice.

I’m down to the last few edits now, so I’m excited to share this book and its cast of characters to you this weekend. I hope you’re looking forward to my book release too.

I had a roommate in college named Olga once, the only person in real life I’ve even known with that name. I always thought it was the coolest name.

Nice to meet you, and I hope you’re enjoying the Challenge!
