ladder-to-moonI’m not counting how many are left, yet, but I did (officially) rock the President’s List with a 4.0 GPA to start my graduate school career. Which still shocks me a little; how is it that I’m better at school now than I ever was before?

It wasn’t even a goal I set consciously–though, unconsciously, I suppose there’s a bit of pride at play, since my husband graduated Summa Cum Laude when he got his Master’s as a mid-life career change to oriental medicine. I was aiming more at making sure I passed when I started, but I’m feeling unreasonably smart at this point. Except for when I look down the barrel of how many years remain before I’m done. Mizewell be a ladder to the moon.

😛

As for writing. Nothing. Nada. Zip. I’m still stuck at 36,515 words. Same place I was two weeks ago. I keep hoping my long, holiday weekends will let me finish book 2 by the end of 2012. All the seasonal socializing is taking bigger chunks of time than I’d anticipated, but we just discovered that one of the tires on our car is completely flattened–and the shop won’t be able to get us in to fix it until Wednesday. So we’re stuck at home for the foreseeable future, which could lead to some kind of productivity.

I hope.

You wouldn’t think it would be so hard to manage another fewer-than-20K words. And I can’t be bored with this story yet, because there’s still a third book to write in the series. Maybe I’ll grant myself a plot-bunny break once this one is done.

😉

So. I’m glad for the push to document progress via the weekly ROW80 check-ins, but my progress has come in fits and starts this round. I managed my schoolwork, but the extra writing sessions… not so much. This is the last ROW80 check-in of 2012, too, so any redemption I manage will come between sessions. I wonder whether I’ll have learned any goal-setting lessons when the new round starts in January…?

In the meantime, feel free to visit the list of the other ROW80 participants to see whether they managed everything they hoped in this round.
